The Optimist Club of Bixby, is sponsoring the Green Corn Festival Parade Saturday, June 25 at 10 a.m.  The theme for the parade this year is “What Makes you Smile” from the president’s theme, Optimists Make the World Better One Smile at a Time.  Lineup will begins at  9 a,m, at the Bixby Central Elementary parking lot, 4th Street and S. E. Avenue..

Cash Prizes and trophies will be awarded for floats in three categories: commercial, youth group, church/civic group.  The prize will go to the winners’ Bixby youth charity of choice.  Prizes are $250 for first place and $100 for second place in each category.

There is no charge to participate in the parade.  Entry forms and rules are located at  HYPERLINK “  The Bixby Optimist club is also looking for autos, walking groups and bands to be in the parade.

Entries are also now being accepted for the Bixby Optimist Club youth talent show, for children ages 6-18. The talent show will be held in conjunction with the Green Corn Festival, June 23, 24  and 25.  Age divisions are 6-10, 11-13, and 14-18.  Performances are to be three to five minutes long.  The cost of entering is $10 per entry.  The talent show will be held on Friday June 24,  at 1 p.m. and lasting no later than 6 p.m. depending on the number of entries.  The show will be held at the Bixby Community Center, 211 N. Cabaniss.

Prizes are a $100 savings bond for first place, $75.00 savings bond for second place and a $50 saving bond for third place.  Contact Celia at the Bixby Community Center at 366-4841 for more information, or come by 211 N. Cabaniss and pick up an entry.  The $10 entry checks are made payable to the Bixby Optimist Club and sent in with your entry.
