Dear friends and fellow Oklahomans:
Greetings to you! I must tell you up front, that the things you read
about in the newspaper this week happened in the House, not in the
Senate. The only excitement we had was the break in of Sen. Harry
Coats' office and theft of personal property. Other than that, we
conducted ourselves in a manner in which you would be proud.
As mentioned in previous articles, the business of the people is rather
quiet this session. We are doing floor work each day, hearing about 36
bills a day, with the exception of the day in which we 'heard' 150
appropriation shell bills. No money is put in those bills yet as the
budget heads keep working toward compromise on the spending budget.
Bills we heard this week included:
SB 923 by Sen. Paddack of Ada created the Automated Defibrillators in
Schools Act, allowing medical equipment in the schools and on athletic
activities.
HB 2469 by Sen. Garrison of Muskogee worked on language for grandparent
visitation rights.
SB 1878 by Sen. Lamb of Edmond is the anti abortion bill for this
session. It included a great deal of language concerning abortion and
those professionals in the medical practice of birth.
HB 2474 by Sen. Ivester of Guymon created fines and jail time for those
violating construction zone limits
HB 2522 by Sen. Burrage of Claremore provided wording for County Drug
Courts.
This week we also honored the 45th Infantry on Tuesday in a joint
House/Senate session. The "Main Street" towns were present in the
rotunda this week, including Red Fork Main Street. This week was also
Family Week and Child Abuse Prevention Week. It is always good to
interact with people from district 37.
I'm always here for you, whether in Oklahoma City, or in Berryhill. You

Working for you 24/7/365,
Nancy
