For the second summer ladies from First United Methodist Church (FUMC) are at their outreach facility on Dawes in Bixby, next door to Bixby Outreach, providing lunch for children who may or may not have anything to eat at home. This is the second summer the crew has set up at lunch time to make sure that any child in Bixby who may be missing out on meals in the summer can stop by their kitchen for a healthy chow down.

Said Robbie Boman of FUMC. “We also have lunch for the children during spring and Christmas breaks.”

The summer lunch program was started because Pastor Randy Mitchell felt like this was a good mission project which would well serve the community.

“This is one way to ensure the children will get a meal, and it’s a healthy meal,” said Boman.

Elaine Bostian added that the third Saturday of the month the church, at the same location, provides food and clothing to those in need.
