Bixby High School Receives 2011 College Readiness Award

Story from Staff Reports found on BixbyBulletin.com

Bixby High School has received the “2011 College Readiness Award” for increasing the number of students taking the ACT Assessment over the past five years and significantly increasing their level of achievement and college readiness.

ACT, Inc. is the not-for-profit organization which provides assessment, research, information and program management services in the broad area of education and workforce development and the publisher of the ACT Assessment.

The ACT Assessment is the college admissions test that is used and accepted by all colleges nationwide and throughout Oklahoma. In 2011 over 76 percent of Oklahoma students took the ACT which is the predominant college achievement and readiness achievement test in Oklahoma.

According to Karen L. Pennell, asst. vice president and ACT Southwest regional manger, “we wanted to recognize those Oklahoma high schools which have made significant strides in increasing the college readiness of their graduates as demonstrated by their ACT score increases over the past five years. This can only happen as a result of the high school’s faculty and staff efforts and the dedication of Bixby High School students and parents to focus on college readiness and raise the level of college readiness for all students.

Buy Bixby – Stay Local, Win Big

Story by Russell Mills found on KRMG.com

The money comes from the sponsorships, and the businesses also determine just how to distribute those chances at the jackpot.

“They determine…”

Bixby City Projects

Story from Staff Reports found on BixbyBulletin.com

Erik Enyart, city planner for the City of Bixby, says this list does not include speculative new developments which he hears about every day, but it does share what is planned for Bixby right now. Within the month, The Bixby Bulletin will explore and expand on some of these undertakings.

Reasor’s supermarket, which will go south of Lowe’s and east of Chili’s will break ground soon.

Encore on Memorial, a 248-unit upscale apartment complex at 126th St. S. and Memorial Dr., is under construction.

North Bixby Commerce Park is in the works.

In 16 acres west of Fire Station No. 2 on 121st St. dirtwork/grading is in progress as approved by FEMA and the City of Bixby.  When the buildings are to be constructed, the mini-storage part of the development will begin, the first three of eight mini-storage buildings.  The site plan and PUD also call for three “trade center” buildings in the middle, such as are found in Crosscreek and Park Place / Market Pointe South at 111th St. S. and Memorial Dr.  The front lot is planned for a retail strip center.  Those developments, and the rest of the mini-storage buildings, would proceed when the market allows for them.

First National Bank is to be developed at 9696 E. 101st St. S. (southwest corner of 101st St. S. and Mingo Rd.

Communications Federal Credit Union is to be built at 11894 S. Memorial Dr.
